Heat a bit oil (coconut or sesame is fine) or use a bit of vegetable broth, if you want to make this oil free. Return tofu to wok; add rice wine, salt, sugar, and white pepper.   4. stir in tofu and broth mixture; bring to boil. reduce heat and simmer, covered, until sauce is thickened and vegetables are softened, about 3 minutes.

Return tofu to wok; add rice wine, salt, sugar, and white pepper.
