Hey everyone, it’s Brad, welcome to our recipe page. Today, I’m gonna show you how to prepare a distinctive dish, muruku. One of my favorites food recipes. For mine, I’m gonna make it a bit tasty. This is gonna smell and look delicious.

Muruku is one of the most favored of recent trending meals on earth. It is enjoyed by millions every day. It is easy, it is quick, it tastes yummy. Muruku is something which I have loved my whole life. They’re fine and they look fantastic.

Murukku recipe - Murukulu or murukku is a deep fried Snack made with rice flour and dal flour. Chakli, chakuli, chakralu and jantikalu are the other Indian names to these. There are so many varieties of murukku, the one I am sharing here is a basic, very old and standard recipe that is followed by many South Indian women. Murukku, also known as Chakli, Murukulu and Jantikalu, is a favorite savory snack in our home.

To begin with this particular recipe, we must prepare a few components. You can cook muruku using 11 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make Muruku:
  1. Prepare 6 cup idli rice
  2. Take 2 cup roasted gram (pottukadalai)
  3. Get 10 red chillies
  4. Get 20 curry leaves
  5. Make ready 6-8 garlic pods
  6. Get 2 tbsp butter
  7. Make ready 3 tsp sesame seeds black
  8. Get 3 tsp ajwain seeds
  9. Get 2-3 pinch Asafoetida
  10. Get Salt as required
  11. Make ready Oil to deep fry

It is also known as murukulu, chakralu and jantikalu in Andhra. A murukku mold is a small metal cylinder with a variety of disk attachments and a metal tamper. Find the disk attachment with a small star shape in the center. Next, place the star attachment disk over the opening of the mold and screw it into place.

Instructions to make Muruku:
  1. Soak idli rice for at least 5 hours. Drain water and grind it in a wet grinder with very little water.
  2. While it’s grinding, grind red chilli, curry leaves and garlic with water in a blender/mixie. Add this paste also to the wet grinder to grind along with rice. The batter should be thick as well as soft. We can add water later if required.
  3. Powder the roasted gram using mixie/blender and sieve it. Add this to the batter along with salt, ajwain seeds, sesame seeds, asafoetida and butter. Mix well. The dough should be non sticky. If it’s not spicy as expected we can add red chilli powder.
  4. Heat a pan with oil on high heat.
  5. Fill muruku press with the dough. Grease backside of stainless steel lid or ladle with oil and press the dough in round shape. Drop it in oil. Flip and fry both the sides until it becomes crispy. Maintain high heat throughout the process.
  6. It’s ready 😋

If you don't have a mold, you can also use a pastry bag with a small star attachment on the end. Murukku is a deep fried crisp snack made with rice flour and gram flour. These are eaten through out the year and is most commonly made during festivals.
