  1. Make ready 1 1/2 lb Steak of Choice Sliced Thin (I used Flank Steak)
  2. Prepare Marinade
  3. Take 4 Tbsp Light Soy Sauce
  4. Take 1-2 Tbsp Light Brown Sugar
  5. Make ready 2 Tbsp Rice Wine or Mirin
  6. Make ready 2 Tbsp Garlic Minced
  7. Make ready 1-2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  8. Get 1 Tbsp Raw Honey
  9. Prepare 2 Tbsp Pear Puree
  10. Take 2 Tbsp Green Onion Chopped
  11. Make ready 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Adds Heat, Optional)
  12. Make ready 1-2 Tbsp Veg Oil of Choice (For Frying)
  13. Prepare 2 tsp Sesame Seeds Toasted
  14. Get 1 Tsp Ginger Grated (Optional)
  15. Prepare 1 tsp Black Pepper

Bulgogi came from the Korean word bul-gogi (불고기), consisting of bul ("fire") and gogi ("meat"). The compound word is derived from the Pyongan dialect, as the dish itself is a delicacy of Pyongan Province, North Korea. Place the beef in a shallow dish. Combine soy sauce, sugar, green onion, garlic, sesame seeds, sesame oil, and ground black pepper in a small bowl.

Steps to make Korean Bulgogi:
  1. Using a knife or meat scissors, slice or cut meat across the grain into 1/4 inch strips.
  2. In a Medium sized bowl, combine all Marinade ingredients. Pour Marinade and Sliced Steak into a Large Gallon sized Ziploc Bag. Get air out and seal. Put into refrigerator for at least 2 hours, up to overnight.
  3. Heat 1 Tbsp of Veg Oil in a Cast Iron Grill Pan to Medium-High Heat. Add Steak in one layer, with some space in between. Don't overfill pan. Cook 2-4 Minutes on each side, until charred. Repeat with rest of Steak.
  4. Serve over Rice, Noodles, Veggies, or in Wraps.
  5. You can make this recipe with other types of meat as well, such as Chicken or Pork. I've made it with Chicken Thighs and it was fabulous!
