This recipe is more like a gingersnaps recipe rather than a soft and/or chewy gingerbread people recipe. However they were really tasty and worked well with cutouts. The icing recipe worked very well. We added food coloring and it was great!

The ingredients needed to make Gingerbread people:
  1. Get 175 g g plain flour
  2. Prepare 100 g sugar
  3. Take 100 g butter or margarine
  4. Get 2 tbsp golden syrup
  5. Take 2 tsp ground ginger

Gingerbread originated in the Middle Ages, when it was eaten year-round as a delicacy at fairs.   3. Knead on a floured surface for a few minutes and roll out. Use cutters to cut out gingerbread into people, or rounds if preferred. If you do not gave acute use a template and cut around with a knife. Reform dough and re-roll to use up all of the dough.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden and lightly firm. They will firm up further when cooled.
  5. Cool or wire rack then decorate with icing, sweets or raisins, or eat them as they are.
